On July 3rd local time, the Chinese Embassy in Syria donated a batch of solar street lights to Damascus Governorate.

At the "Light Up Damascus" solar street light handover ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Syria Shi Hongwei stated that last September, the two heads of state jointly announced the establishment of a strategic partnership, further consolidating and deepening the millennium-old friendship. As a good friend, good brother, and good partner, China will continue to provide various types of assistance, including solar street lights, that are urgently needed and benefit the people's livelihood, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Syria expressed sincere gratitude for China's selfless assistance, stating that due to severe power shortages, the main streets of Damascus had been without lighting for years. The street lights donated by China, a "timely help," have greatly facilitated local residents' travel. The Syrian people will always remember this friendly gesture.

The donated solar street lights have been installed on six streets surrounding Abbas Square in the Syrian capital, Damascus, benefiting nearly 10,000 local residents.
